In FY24 UBPS partners worked with 28 campus units. Among other important collaborations, funding for Athletics, Dining, People & Culture and the Retirement Center helped the university to advance key initiatives related to student-athlete scholarships, sustainable dining and workforce development and retention.

Cal Athletics

During a transformative time for college sports, UBPS partners invested $1,432,260 in Cal Athletics, including $173,260 from BMO for student-athlete scholarships.

Such funding supported the Golden Bears 91% Graduation Success Rate as they began to navigate the transition to a new conference and a new era of college athletics.

Berkeley Dining

As we continue to fight climate change, greener food and beverage systems are essential to reducing our environmental impact. PepsiCo’s partnership with Berkeley Dining helped to fund the initial phase of a university “farm to fork” initiative, as well as a trial of a more sustainable approach to beverage service—PepsiCo’s SodaStream Professional system. The farm initiative will help Dining source ingredients from a farm immediately adjacent to campus.

People & Culture + Retirement Center

The university remains a desirable workplace thanks to its employee-centric culture, highlighted at our semi-annual staff appreciation events. UBPS partners, including Farmers Insurance, contributed $65,000 to Berkeley People & Culture and the university’s Retirement Center to further employee and retiree welfare through professional development events, special discounts, and lifelong learning opportunities.
